Samaritan Ministry
Assistance
The Samaritan Ministries are programs supported by the parishioners of St. Joseph University Parish to benefit individuals and families in the area who are in need. On the first Sunday of the month, a special collection is taken up to directly benefit this ministry. In addition to the monetary donations on those Sundays, a collection barrel is also present in the back of church. Our food pantry volunteers assemble the weekly food parcels and assist in their distribution.
Food Pantry
Our pantry is open on Monday and Friday between 1:30 and 3:30pm. Pantry guests may line up beginning at 1:30. Guests do not need to bring anything with them. We are unable to offer delivery. To have someone else pick up a parcel for them, guests should send a piece of current mail with the person picking up along with a signed note giving permission for someone to pick up for them.
Utility Assistance
The St. Joseph Utility Assistance Program provides financial assistance to the working poor of Vigo County through a referral system with the Salvation Army. All utility assistance requests must submit an application through the Terre Haute Salvation Army. They may be reached at 812-232-4081. Applications are accepted from the 1st of each month and are accepted as long as funds are available. No utility assistance is available directly through the parish.
