Youth Ministry Volunteer

Religious Education Volunteers

Religious Education classes for high school youth are offered from September thru May each year. Freshmen through seniors meet on scheduled Sundays from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at St. Patrick. There are two primary types of volunteers needed for High School Religious Education:

Catechists

Catechists select one to three lessons to plan and teach each year. They must arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of class on those days they have chosen to teach. Cathechists meet with the Director of Youth Ministry as needed.

Small Group Leaders

Small group leaders commit to being at each of the 15 Sunday RE sessions. They are assigned a small group which they will work with the entire year. Being a small group leader requires no preparation; one must simply arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the start of each class and will receive their instructions for the day upon arrival. Small group leaders sit in on the lessons delivered by the catechists and then facilitate discussions/activities within their small group of students (questions/directions provided by the Director of Youth Ministry).

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) for Youth

Anyone interestd in working with youths in grades 9 – 12 who have not received all of the following sacraments (Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist) should contact the Director of Youth Ministry.
